What to wear (and what not to)
A few small wardrobe notes that consistently raise the floor of every portrait session.
We get this question every week, so here are the rules of thumb we share with new clients before a portrait session.
Wear what you already love. If you bought it for the shoot, you'll look like you bought it for the shoot. Whatever's in heavy rotation already lives on your body the right way.
Skip the loud patterns. Tight checks and small stripes get strange under a camera sensor — there's a name for it, moiré, and it never reads the way it does in person. Solids, soft textures, and big patterns survive the lens.
Bring one second look. A jacket, a different top, a hat. Forty minutes into a session, swapping one element changes the whole gallery without restarting the energy.
That's it. Don't overthink it.
